IMT School for Advanced Studies in Lucca, Italy
The PhD program in Economics, Analytics and Decision Sciences (EADS) is hosted by the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca, one of the seven doctoral schools of Excellence in Italy.
EADS trains students to undertake cutting-edge research in a wide range of economic fields with a unique multidisciplinary approach that relies on the unifying language of statistics and data science, as well as on selected tools from computer science and psychology.
The program offers full funding, free accommodation, meals, and access to the IMT campus for all students. Students are given additional financial support for mobility abroad, participation in international academic conferences, summer and winter schools, and other similar events. EADS also offers opportunities for joint supervision and double degrees with partner universities (University of Alicante, FAE; KU Leuven, Economics), and it is willing to consider new collaborations for joint supervision and double degrees.
The ideal candidate is interested in acquiring distinctive competencies in economics, analytics and decision sciences but does not necessarily need to have previous training in these areas. All candidates with training in different subject areas, such as economics, management, statistics, law, physics, computer science, engineering, logic and philosophy of science, mathematics, and cognitive and behavioural sciences, are welcome to apply. However, it is crucial that the candidate demonstrates solid quantitative skills comparable with those typically acquired in economics-managerial degrees.
